University students of an "Information Technology for Teachers" graduate course at the University of Nicosia, Cyprus were asked to participate in an online discussion within the Development Education Forums about the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). They were first asked to watch two videos and then search for relevant information on the web in order to be able to give answers to the following questions:
- Why are the Millennium Development Goals important?
- What could you do as future educators to contribute towards the achievement of these goals?
They had 30 minutes to get themselves familiar with the topic and write their responses to the two questions within the forum. Everyone was very positive throughout the process. Most of them had never heard of the MDGs before and as future educators they were eager to learn more. Reviewing their responses in the forum, one can observe the effort that was made and the interesting ideas and opinions elaborated by the students.
